Climate Smart Update: Bright Spots and Building Back Better
Over the past few weeks, we have gathered feedback from businesses and offered support where we can. At times we’ve found the news heartbreaking, but we’ve also been uplifted by the stories of businesses leading their communities towards better days ahead.
We’re also hopeful in that we are able to share a bright spot: we are seeing a remarkable resolve to keep the momentum on climate action. In March and April businesses from across Canada, including St. John’s, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Vancouver moved forward in their work with us. With an updated online training option, Climate Smart is helping businesses find innovative ways to build towards the future we all aspire to.
The next online Climate Smart programs kick off on June 23rd. Generous discounts are available from HSBC Bank, City of North Vancouver, City of Edmonton, Port of Vancouver and Vancity Credit Union. If you know businesses that may be a fit, please spread the word.
Climate Smart is also elevating the critical role that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play in generating jobs and reducing GHG emissions as part of a long term clean economy reset. On Earth Day Climate Smart joined Clean50
leaders through an open letter in the The Globe and Mail
— calling on governments to make sustainability a key consideration for building back better.
