Big week in the media for Climate Smart Businesses & Climate Smart publications
Believe it or not, the media whirlwind around Climate Smart last week and the fact it was Earth Day were totally coincidental. It took a question from Vancouver Island radio personality Frank Stanford regarding the timing of Climate Smart’s first-ever ‘white paper’ and a potential linkage to Earth Day for us to make the connection. It dawned on us that two projects we’ve been working on for months happened to launch within days of Earth Day!
The white paper ‘Are Small-to-Mid Sized Businesses the Catalyst to a Low Carbon Economy in BC?’, produced for the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions, landed Climate Smart businesses in Vancouver (The Listel Hotel) and Surrey (Aggressive Tube Bending) on the front page of the Vancouver Sun’s Business section.
This past week Climate Smart also released the inaugural Climate Smart Industry Brief, entitled Offices & Carbon Emissions. Focusing on office-based businesses, this first issue in a quarterly series allows you to benchmark your own performance against other offices, to see where you stack up. Thanks to our generous sponsors, the Climate Smart Industry Brief series will be available for free.
In addition, Climate Smart President Elizabeth Sheehan and Vancouver Island Climate Smart organizations Starfish Medical & Victoria Women-in-Need Community Co-operative elaborated on their greenhouse gas emissions & cost reduction initiatives over the radio waves. Listen here.
Finally, Climate Smart member business Met Fine Printers was profiled for sustainable printing advances in Business In Vancouver (read) and Lloyd Lee, Climate Smart’s Business Development & Marketing Manager advised businesses on how to reduce their carbon emissions in the ‘Ask the Experts’ column in the same issue.
All in all, not a bad week!
